Travelling to fantastic, beautiful and often remote locations is one of the many reasons I enjoy landscape photography - but what about the area where I live? The place I spend most of my free time - the woods, rivers and fields a stone's throw from my front door? I often felt there was a beauty surrounding me, but never really made an effort to capture it.
So I started this project on the back of my trip to the Cairngorms - where I found abstracting details from the landscape both addictive and challenging. Most of the photographs I took there were not of big vistas but of small and intimate locations. Just like at home.
