Photography distinguished by a refined minimalist aesthetic, using carefully balanced composition, dramatic natural light, and a restrained visual style to transform landscapes, architecture, and people into elegant, graphic images with a strong sense of atmosphere.

About

After studying Industrial Design and developing an appreciation for the relationship between form and function, I began my career at a small product design studio. There, we handcrafted presentation models of our designs, and one of my responsibilities was photographing them. It was here that my passion for photography first took root.

The arrival of 3D modelling software and increasingly powerful computers transformed the design industry and paved the way for the emerging world of Visual Effects. Recognising the creative opportunities this presented, I changed careers and embarked on a 30-year journey working on Hollywood films and television productions. Along the way, I developed a deep understanding of composition, lighting, and visual storytelling.

As my career evolved from artist to Head of Department, photography once again became my creative outlet—a way to explore and express my own vision beyond the collaborative world of filmmaking.

Whether I’m photographing the dramatic landscapes of the Scottish Highlands or the architectural forms and diverse characters of London, I am drawn to a minimalist aesthetic, seeking simplicity, balance, and a strong sense of place in each image.
